choosing to sacrifice…

Children_with_rosaries-1917_-_Jacinta_Lucia_Francisco
After the vision of hell, Lucia, Francesco, and Jacinta chose specific ways to offer avoidable sufferings for the sake of sinners, as Our Lady had first asked of them in May, 1917.

These children willingly gave their meager lunches and mid-day drinking water to poor passers-by, even though these children worked in the hot sun all day. They then offered their hunger and thirst as a sacrifice for sinners.

Can you deliberately choose to endure suffering for the sake of others? Perhaps that is the most difficult choice as an act of love, and it, too, can be united with Our Lord’s death for us. Consider, however, that God has applied - just for you - the graces from the deliberate sacrifice offered by someone unknown to you - today or long ago.

Can you do the same for someone else? Just once? The best way for us to act as a “village” is to help build the City of God with sacrifice. The three children also benefitted from their deliberate sacrifices to Our Lord and Our Lady, as the sacrifices strengthened them for their three-day persecution by the local Masonic mayor, who kidnapped them en route to Our Lady’s August apparition.
